About a month ago, Democratic nominee Barack Obama had about a 6 point lead in most polls. However, a new poll released by the Wall Street Journal/NBC news polling service shows that there is currently a statistical dead heat between the two candidates. The 6 point lead is down to a 3 point difference with 45% of those polled in favor of Obama and 42% in favor of McCain.

June 30, 2008 - Textbook Funding Included In GI Bill
On June 30th President Bush signed into law a provision that will include a new lump sum allowance of $1,000 for books, supplies, equipment, and other educational expenses for veterans who have served active duty since September 11, 2001. Veterans who attended a school that ran on semesters would receive $500 during each semester, veterans who attend schools on quarter systems will receive $250 per quarter. The new law also allows reenlisting service members to transfer the credit to their spouse or children.
